As the title says, I've looked into the AlienWear 17, though I know that's mostly paying just for the name. Does anyone have any suggestions? I want to be able to run Tera/Most games on medium-Maximum settings and I don't want to have to worry about having to have it constantly charged.

http://www.sagernotebook.com/ official sagernotebooks website

http://www.xoticpc.com/ xoticpc, they sell many brands and their customer support is probably the best out there, they resell sagers too and you may even save like 80$ if you don't want an OS to be pre-installed, and even 3% if you pay via wire transfers or cash (although you'd rather pay full price as your bank may get a fee from wire transfers).

Both of these websites accept only USA cards as far as my knowledge goes, but I am not sure. they ship to other countries in case that's necessary.

Also I must note that UPS shipping inside USA is free, and prices are tax-free at sagernotebook, I don't know about xoticpc but If I had to guess I'd say yes

I am a nobody (on the internet) and a low level digital media video Editor in real life, so I am looking at many forums.

My needs are higher spec graphics cards and hard disk drives - which bring me into the realm of gaming laptops.

For the longevity that I am seeking (4 years was the distance my last unit went) I am searching for answers too.

I found:

http://www.utopiacomputers.co.uk/?module&id=about

They seem to be reputable and anyone on The-Gadget-Show's radar can't be that bad (in my opinion).

I am a former PC Specialist customer, but the price marks given on a replacement graphics card seem mercenary.

I would buy from PC Specialist again, but I am keen to see who else has arrived on the market in the last 3-4 years.

Hope that helps!

utopia computers are more expensive than pcspecialist. Honestly pcspecialist is about as cheap as it gets.

hmmm,

I will check that and see, but if PC Specialist are as cheap as it gets.....

.....then maybe you have already answered your own question?

Utopia's 10 year Warranty and after care may make things more assured.

To be honest I have no clue which to get, that pc specialist one looks phenominal, though I'm worried about overheating problems and the laptop breaking down? Could anyone show me what they'd go. Alienwear has experts who come to your house.

Technology is changing very fast indeed. 2nd hand PCs as much as the new models, but I think this is a lot of "bought from new" customers trying to get their money back. Back on topic though:

- Unplugging the battery power as soon as it has charged to 100% (or even 95%) is an idea
- Cooling fans seem to be on trend, so having one of those mats will help
- a dedicated, flat clean surface that to dissipate heat

DELL, PC Specialist and Utopia Computers seem to be the best UK places to go for reliable Alienware on a budget.

Outside of that you may need to look into PC mag ads, refurbished models or computer trade fairs.

I'd like to know which you'd go for that has the better components/customer support. I'd like it to be brand new. I want to be able to do uni work. Aswell as play Tera on high-maximum.
