I have a older computer that has a svga out and a tv with a dvi connection on the back...Can I just use a cable to hook them up or do I need a converter...I want to watch video from my pc to tv..so for the record my question is can I get a svga to dvi cable and just hook them up or do I need a converter betwen the pc and tv..Thanks in advance for any answers

If the tv's dvi port is dvi-i or dvi-a then yes you can use a simple adapter like this:

If not then you will need a much more expensive active converter box (around $50 last time I priced one)
