my Lenovo u530 touch laptop just shut down randomly. I closed the screen for a while to go do something else, then I came back, and opened the laptop. the screen was all black because I thought it was just in sleep mode. I pressed the power button and it started to boot up, like normal. first the little power sign was white, then the backlight keys came on. almost suddenly it shut down again. and then it automatically repeated the same cycle of turning off and on. on the side of the computer the battery sign was solid white, but every time that it turned on and off, the little power button on the side f the computer did too. I tried charging it with the adaptor but that didn't doo anything, except make a weird musical-ish sound, no matter how many times I turn it off manually, and then turn it back on, it still repeats this process.

Solution
Most likely some significant component failure. If you were VERY lucky, you would be able to use a boot disk (CD) and boot from that, and run some tests. Can you get into the BIOS? You need to have the boot sequence prioritised for a CD, before the HDD. But I'm guessing it won't let you even boot that way. Of course you can also extract the HDD and check that using another PC...and save your data..

Hi Alexthe666,
1. Sorry, your PC is probably broken.
2. It's probably broken beyond expert repair.
3. Using a boot CD is common practice- do a bit of googling. (You'd need another PC to write one).
4. You need to save whatever data you haven't backed up.
5. You need a techy friend to help you - and a PC repair shop if the cost is worth it.

Hope that's clearer..

Alexthe666 I'm having exactly the same problem, i've used it for a day and when i tried to turn it back on it just goes on and off repeatedly. Have you found a solution to the problem yet?
