I was wondering, would a Dual-core with hyperthreading be twice as slow as a Quad-core?
It seems like it would, because it has to run 2 threads on each core.

More about : dual core hyperthreading quad core faster

It wouldn't be TWICE as slow, as most applications only rely on 1-2 cores.

Depends on what you are doing but if it is intensive stuff a quad core is always better than a dual core.

An i5 is often better than an i3, especially in gaming.

Sorry I forgot to say for processes reqiuring 4 core, like a game. I should've been more specific

Hyperthreading won't give a exact percentage on how software will perform on it, including games. The performance increase will be from 0% all the way to 100%.

As you can see, it will vary a ton if you play a bunch of different games.
