Thin clamp or strap?

Have a gateway laptop that was dropped a short distance and it snapped where the screw screws into the corner near the left back of the laptop. This causes the whole corner of the laptop to lift open when the screen is opened and closed. If you put pressure there while opening it stays closed for the most part. I'm thinking a very thin clamp or strap would provide the necessary pressure to prove a ghetto fix until I can replace or fix it. Any ideas of what I can use? Tried googling but I'm either coming up with giant c clamps or hose clamps that wouldn't really work unless I could bend it pretty good, and it'd have to be a huge hose clamp.

Will plastic cement hold the entire corner in place against the pressure of the hinge from the screen? Should I just go around the edge with it? I'm glad I asked lol I was thinking worst case a screw and bolt. Not at all pretty but it'd do the job

It definitely will. They have strengths ranging from construction grade to toy figure repair. As someguynamedmatt said, epoxy will work as well. Just make sure what you get can fill in gaps as the contact surface wont be completely flush.

A few notes,

-> Most glues or cements that bond to the surface will cause discoloration to the application area
-> always apply these products in a well ventilated area.

Because the case of a laptop is made of hard plastic, it shouldn't be too hard to bond using most solutions. Plastic cement ins't common so if it's isn't available to you, any gap filling super glue will do. Just check the label to make sure it does plastic.

Ok, call me retarded, but I tried plastic epoxy as I didn't want to drive clear down the hobby lobby to hope to find plastic cement. I went around the edges where the sides fall together, scuffed them up with sandpaper and epoxied in there. Not a ton because I was afraid of dripping onto the motherboard or other electronics. Clamped it, left for almost 24 hours. It pulled right apart the first time I opened the lid. Should I be dredging on the epoxy all over in and out? I don't want to over or under do it.

It doesn't sound like it's bonding very well. It shouldn't take very much to hold it closed. Two things - Does the epoxy you have bond to plastic and does it expand to fill in gaps? You need both of these for this application.

It's unlikely that you will have success with that epoxy on a 2nd try if it broke so easily. At this point, it looks like the only clean way you're going to get this to work is some plastic cement. You could always leave it clamped if you're not feeling up to it. It may not look good but at least you'll be able to use it freely.
