I am going to buy an Alienware 17 and for a 100 bucks my 1 tb hard drive can be upgraded with + 80GB mSATA SSD Caching.

Is it worth it?
Will it make games run smoother?

And I have to choose between that and x2 8gb ram(16gb), the default is x2 4gb(8).

It installs an 80GB SSD into an MSATA slot. This can be used as a traditional SSD, or configured as a fast disk cache for a much larger hard disk drive.

Using it as an SSD will provide you with an 80GB volume to do with as you please. Using it as a cache will improve the performance of the larger 1TB hard disk drive.
