Do laptops using 4xxxu core i5 and i3 processors and intel hd graphics GPUs give a you good gaming experience, and can they run intense games like COD and Modern Warfare?

Solution
You have to weight several factors in:
-portability - a huge plus for laptops
-noise - you are fairly close to the fans, so it can be noisy and hot
-screen size - its very limited
-maintainability - in some cases it is bad but in most its ok
-upgradability - well there is particularly none except for peripherials and HDD-SDD
-price - you pay around double for the same power

Well I have a laptop with a i5 3210m and a hd 4000 graphics, I can run bf3 multiplayer 64 man smoothly on low, as long as I'm not playing dense maps, but games like shogun 2, I can max out easy. CS Go, lol, tf2, garrys mod, no sweat. So if you get a i5 xxxx , with a hd 4600 instead, you should be able to run mw2 smoothly, cause with mine I can barely get it over 30

-portability - a huge plus for laptops (Not some of the 17" 5kg monsters with a house brick for a PSU. Carrying them for 5 mins is enough)
-noise - you are fairly close to the fans, so it can be noisy and hot (If your gaming you'll probably have headphones in/on so not to much of a problem. Exhausted heat is a problem especially if it's out the side and usually onto your hands)
-screen size - its very limited (Err no you can plug a screen in same as a desktop)
-maintainability - in some cases it is bad but in most its ok (No clue as to what you mean here)
-upgradability - well there is particularly none except for peripherials and HDD-SDD (Don't forget the RAM. Graphics & CPU - forget it)

I took up the challenge and specced an Originpc laptop with highest I could and only got to the $7000 mark. That was with sli 880m, raided 1tb ssd etc. The thing would play any current game on ultra. I don't see how a $2000 desktop could be twice as good at gaming.

Then again I would hardly call it a laptop as you wouldn't want it on your lap for long. It's more like a high end desktop with built in screen that you can't upgrade some major components.

EDIT: Typed this when you said $20000 laptop.

So from the data a 880m has roughly 60-70% the performance of the 780ti. As my 780ti doesn't even break sweat playing BF4 on ultra that 880m is pretty good for gaming.

What is annoying is both Nvidia and AMD both give misleading card designations. Their names just define the architecture and not their relative performance as a lot of people may think.
