hey all,

When using skype on my PC, i plug my apple earpods into my microphone jack on my case. However, when skyping with friends, they can't hear me unless they turn their volume very high. Does anyone else have this problem or similar?
Any solutions?

Thanks

Is this just one friend or everybody.

And did you build your PC? Usually the mobo wouldn't have a good sound card or you don't get a reliable one. :)

Try speaking into the physical earbud, not the microphone. In most cases, I believe it is the left one you have to speak into.

The reason why this works is the way the microphone port works. If you look at the output for your earbuds you should notice 3 sections. The top is left, middle is right, bottom is microphone. The microphone port will only read the top band. It may sound weird, but it's always worked for me.

Sorry for the delayed response, I just stumbled across this post while looking for something else.

As far as low volume on Skype with windows 8 goes- I stopped using the desktop version and used the windows 8 app and this corrected the low volume mic problem :)
