I was just wondering whether a tablet or laptop would be more useful for college work and browsing. For a tablet I was looking at the dell venue 8 pro 64gb but as I was ordering it I saw that there were laptops similarly priced with more options like the Asusx551MAV-RCLN06. What would better suit me cause I like the weight of a tablet but want more power and ports for around 250 dollars.

If you want light weight of tablet and productivity of laptop, then i suggest you to go will mini laptops, the one with 10"~12" screen, generally these types of laptop have almost all the ports, they are light weight and are real combination of both.

If your college work requires a lot of typing, then never go with tablets
If your work requires less of typing and more of browsing , then tablet will be a good deal.

That's a good laptop but I don't really like how slow the processor is. However for 250 bucks you're not going to get much so I'd say it's a pretty good deal.

I have multiple devices, including 4 laptops and 2 tablets (Android and Windows). If I had to choose between a laptop and a tablet the choice is easily for a laptop. While it gives up some portability, it more than makes up for it in functionality. Do you really want to write a college level term paper on a tablet?
