how do i buy game on steam using my debit?

I Want to buy games off steam, i have a bank account and have a debit card. i want to know what info i need to give steam and where i get it from. so a list of steps that is can follow.

(i don't want to use paypal only my debit card think it is safer.)

When you go to checkout and then payment they will ask for the 16 digit card number, the 3 digit number on the back, expiration date (MM-YY) and cardholder name (name that appears on the card). Ok i will explain my situation. I Live in Australia and i have a bank card. This card is called a smart card i think and it is only used to with draw money from the ATM at the bank. I asked the bank and that is all it can be used for. i know my account number and that is all. Is there any way of still buying off steam?

It sound like you have what is know as an ATM Card which doesn't have the facility for any other use. You can't use this to purchase online goods. This link gives a list of all the payment methods you can use with Steam: https

Why not just ask your bank to issue you with a proper Debit or Credit Card? Otherwise, PayPal seems to be the best option; what is your problem with this?

A good way to use PayPal if you are worried about security, is create a secondary account with your bank, link that account to PayPal and use that to fund what you need. Only keep enough funds in the account to pay for what you are getting. That way even if someone was to get into your PayPal they will only be able to get as much as was in that account. Either way, PayPal is a stable and large company and will work with your bank to get back any stolen funds.

Another way is to get a pre-paid credit card and use that for purchases.
