I have a Vizio 50" Smart Tv and a Harman Kardon SB 26 sound system. My setup is as follows I have connected my laptop to my tv using a HDMI cable using the ARC port and I have connected my soundbar to the tv using an optical cable it was working fine but now I disconnected the wires to mount all this on the wall and on re-connecting them there is no sound through the sound bar. Can you advise on how can revert to my old setup.

Solution
First off there is no reason to connect the laptop to the HDMI input that has ARC since you are not going to feed audio from the TV back to the laptop. Go into the TV menu and turn off the ARC. Make sure that the optical is on and that the output is compatible with the HK (try the choices to find out). Make sure you are on the correct input on the HK too.

OK, I had the same problem. If the above solution doesnt work for you...this is what I did. I have a samsung tv (smart tv) and harmon/kardon sound bar.

Go to Samsung TV Menu
Click Sound option
Change Speaker Setting to "External Speaker"
Then go into SPDIF Output and change setting to PCM

Have a great day :)
