I've been given an Acer aspire 5920 laptop, the hard drive had to be replaced so I put XP onto it (formerly a Vista only machine) I've gradually found all the drivers I need for XP functionality but I'm wondering if this lack of communication between my laptop and my Samsung TV is down to the drivers? The cable is brand new for the svideo.
I've tried the Fn + F3 or F5 but nothing happens. (the manual is vague and just mentioned the function button and the s-video socket, which wasn't much help)
I followed all the threads online about switching the pair off then rebooting together to get the tv to work, tried extending the desktop onto screen two in properties. No joy, screen two says it's active on the laptop then the box is unselected again seconds later.
Any help appreciated I've got to my wits end with it.
Many thanks!
Soph.

Heya

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, the software is in place that operates the function keys, screen on/off, touchpad selection, sound, sleep etc all work as they should. I did wonder about this to begin with but it'd be odd for the others to work and not the tv function. (which on mine is reportedly Fn F5 but some aspire units are Fn F3.)

I've read some threads saying you sometimes have to dig deeply in the settings and properties but I've scouted around in the intel graphics Accelerator driver program but I don't seem to find anything relevent.

In 'display devices' it only gives me 'Single display' option, there's nothing else in the drop down box and in 'display...

In 'display devices' it only gives me 'Single display' option, there's nothing else in the drop down box and in 'display selection' it just 'says primary device : Notebook.'

As mentioned tried extending the desktop into screen two in normal display properties on the desktop, but it appears to accept this, laptop end, for a few seconds when I click Apply, but nothing happens on the TV and the box is promptly unchecked again when the window refreshes.

Huge thanks again
