Hello,
I am thinking to buy a new laptop online.And among all viewed laptops i have shortlisted 2 laptops which are as given below:

1.Dell Inspiron 15 (3537) W560358IN8 15.6-inch Laptop
specifications are:
3-GHz Intel Core i7-4500U Processor
8 GB RAM
1 TB 5400 rpm hard drive
Windows 8 Single Language operating system
15.6-inch HD LED with True Life display
2 GB AMD Radeon HD 8850M graphics card

2.Sony VAIO E14 Laptop (SVE1413YPNB) (3rd Gen Intel Core i7 3520M- 4GB RAM- 500GB HDD- 14 Inches- Win8 Pro- 1GB Graph)
specifications are:

Which one of the above laptops, do u feel would be a better deal?(price of both being almost same). And also what effect does '3rd generation processor' or a '4th generation processor' has on laptop working (both being i7).
Which site would be better to go for buying laptop online? Snapdeal.com or amazon.com??

The processors are pretty incomparable because both have different advantages/disadvantages.

The newer i7 4500 "U" (The "U" designates power efficiency) is meant to increase the battery life of laptops while offering performance similiar to an i5 "M". The i7 3520M has a high clock speed than the i7 4500 "U", but it utilizes more power and produces more heat.

So if you want the best performance, the i7 3520M is the best choice, but if you'd like more battery life with pretty decent performance, the i7 4500 "U" makes the most sense.

Also, I'd personally purchase a laptop from Amazon.com because of their impeccable service and their fast shipping times. However, the VAIO is definitely an older generation laptop than the Dell Inspiron...

Thank u Jason, for your quick and clear response.So i would consider it as Dell leading over VAIO..But still there is a doubt of advantages of 4th generation processor over 3rd generation processor. And the laptop will be mostly used to run Engineering softwares and entertainment purpose.

No problem! So if you aren't too keen on having amazing battery life, then I'd go for the i7 3520M. It will handle most of your engineering software needs without a hitch. The i7 4500U may struggle in performance compared to the i7 3520M, but it may just take longer to process certain tasks.

As per your advice i checked up for i7 3520M processor but there is no such configuration available on amazon as well as flipkart...so i think, i will have to go with 4500U processor.One more thing,when i checked on google about coupons for purchase of laptop on amazon.com i got "http://www.maddycoupons.in/?s=Amazon+India+laptop&Search&gclid=Cj0KEQjw3vyeBRDt673h5ZTYrdQBEiQAzhkf8hl6YZxmqHMNQxw_qvJ82qUL7v7NylsnW5kdhJLYTvoaAqkK8P8HAQ" this page and when i'm clicking on the coupon of upto 40% off on dell laptops and further on 'go to website' i'm not getting any additional discount. Why is it so?

hey jason, for that "Dell Inspiron 15 (3537) W560358IN8 15.6-inch Laptop(i7-4500U)" on amazon.in; in product information, it is mentioned that 6 cell lithium ion batteries REQUIRED. So I'm confused whether i will get battery along the product or i will have to buy it separately.If i have to buy it separately then how much will it cost me and where will get the compatible battery for that product.Presently mentioned price of that laptop is 52,491.00.
