FF v31 (not sure if this is the right category but is the closest I can think of)

The problems have been ongoing for the last 9-10 days.

1. About 9 days ago I d/l the latest version of FF 31. 2. The new browser brought up a single tab without my Earthlink homepage and the little aero icon would never quit spinning. I switched over to IE and it work as expected though not a big proponent of IE. 3. I thought I had a bad d/l so I uninstalled-reinstalled FF31 several times and every time I would have the same results. I searched and found out that my antivirus software could be blocking FF. It had never blocked FF before and I have been using Norton 360 and FF for the past 3 years. 4. I went to N360 software rules and changed FF from auto to allow. I reinstall ff31 and PTL it worked. 5. It worked for 2.5 days until this am. 6. Today my mouse had problems scrolling through articles and X in tabs would not close. So I closed out the browser and tried to reload FF. FF came up with the single tab and no homepage and Aero spinning away. 6. So off we go to uninstall reinstall land. After install FF installing module said it was having problems loading so options to work in safe mode. I chose that but of course that would not work. 7. I finally hit reset and everything appears to be working correctly.

Norton does a periodical scan for viruses and it updates virus software ever day.

So at this point I am becoming less and less a fan of FF. I may have to switch over to Chrome since I really dislike IE. I know that FFv31 and Norton have been butting heads lately. Is that the problem?

You can run a scan on the drive if you think there are issues with it. Every drive vendor I know of has a utility to do a disk check on the drive.

Disabeling Norton won't be the same as uninstalling it but you can try it, can't hurt anything by doing that.

Could I just disable Norton 360 online and see if that would fix the problems. I am still leaning to a hardware error from the hard drive.

I had another problem with another external hard drive were I could not delete the file, could not move the file, could not copy the file. I use Unlocker for windows unlocking files and it would unlock the file but It still would not let me move the folder so I think I have a bad sector there also.

Not content with IE11 but I think I have a bigger problem than a Norton 360 FF conflict
I think I need to do a clean install and start over. Ugh double ugh. Internet explorer works
but it is slow opening tabs and I am having multiple instances of IE explorer. Unless that is normal? I click on a saved favorite link it goes right to the webpage and no delay. I could have an add-on that is causing the problem.
