My laptop when at home remains plugged in with the battery in. I know this may reduce the life of the battery, however my system randomly power cycles for no apparent reason. Could someone please help. Is this an issue with faulty RAM, a faulty MB or issues with Windows 7.. maybe virtual memory use?

Yes. The whole computer randomly just goes blank and re-boots and can happen at any time. The system logs show that at these times that it power cycles. (My friend had a look at the logs. He also suggested a possible mainboard issue as this issue is normally associated with desktop PCs and faulty power supply units. As this is a laptop and has a battery ready in case of power failures, should not happen for power load issues) It is also taking longer and longer to boot up.
This is also happening more and more frequently. Yesterday it restarted itself about 10 times.
