Hi all, I have a Sony Vaio VPCCA190X whose motherboard was fried in an unfortunate accident with a glass of water. The only available replacement for the board was from a VPCCA27EC, an identical physical match. I can't seem to get the HDMI port working for this new board no matter what drivers I try. Any ideas?

The donor is a chinese model, with seemingly the same graphics hardware. I can't navigate the chinese website so cannot install any of the drivers compatible with the donor model. I have installed all the drivers for the US model, all variants and sources of the graphics drivers I have found, including the independent switchable driver project. Additionally my Ubuntu installation cannot see the port however it is difficult to find any compatible driver for Linux.

One detail, while the display (projector) is searching for a signal, if the HDMI cable is unplugged, the projector quickly cycles through the HDMI input. When the cable is plugged into the computer, the projector waits and searches the port, as though it is trying to negotiate with the port.

Another possibly important detail is that the BIOS has forgotten which machine it belongs to and is registered as 'Reserved'. I have a feeling this is related to the HDMI port issue, but have not been able to find a way of flashing the BIOS.

Hi SR71, I have tried that and quite a bit more, am somewhere between believing the port is 'bad' (whatever that means,) or the firmware simply isn't installed to recognise it.
