Hi,

Can anyone explain to me why only some laptop vendors with the i5 4200U CPU and a dedicated graphic card advertise the HD4400 integrated card?
Is not this a useful feature? To use the dedicated graphic card when needed and save battery otherwise?
Or am I missing something?

Thanks

All modern laptops with Intel CPUs have an integrated graphics core.

All Haswell generation Core i3/i5/i7 "U' model CPUs have the Intel HD 4400. If the laptop has a dedicated GPU (like my Dell Latitude 3540 with the i5-4200u and Radeon HD 8850m), the Intel HD 4400 will be active when non-graphically intensive programs are running; like watching videos and surfing the internet. This keeps power consumption low to prolong battery life.

When doing something intensive like playing games or doing 3D rendering, the dedicated GPU kicks in to provide better performance.
