My cousin has a Lenovo U310 laptop. It has Windows 7 home edition on it. She uses it for college works only. Someone stole her original charger so she has to buy a universal charger, Realtek I think. She plugged it in, it won't charge and won't boot up. I looked at it, no lights on the laptop at all. No power light or battery light. I took the battery out, press the power button for about 1 minute, nothing. I put the battery back and press the power button, still nothing. So I replaced the battery with another Lenovo U310 battery. I hit the power button, it turns on. So I turn the laptop off and decided to plug the charger in to charge the laptop. About 5 minutes later, it won't turn on. I get 3 long blinks from the battery light and that's it. Did the DC jack kill the battery? Please help cause she needs it for college in about a week.

Thanks in advance.

My first thought would be that the charger is not compatible, as I run into that all the time with generic chargers on Dell laptops. The battery is probably totally depleted. I would try a different charger and insure that it has identical specs to the original.

I've not seen a charger of the proper voltage and current ever kill a battery, but I suppose that it is possible if the charger is defective.

Thanks for the inputs. I forgot to mention that we replaced the Realtek charger with a genuine Lenovo U310 charger. She decided to get a new one since there's not much times to get it resolved.
Thanks again.
