Hello everybody, I just registered to this forum to ask about this.
I have been using this HP Pavilion 15 001AX for about 6 to 7 months now. And I'm quite a late night user and since the laptop does not contain a back lit keyboard its really uncomfortable to use it during travel or during late nights.
I have been snooping around for some time searching about an keyboard upgrade and i have seen that few HP laptops are eligible for an keyboard upgrade if the Motherboard or System board supports it.
Now if I can confirm in some way that a particular back lit keyboard is supported for my laptop's motherboard so that I could just order it from eBay.
I have experience in disassembly on few other laptops and I have disassembled my laptop to a complete fullest so please restrain by saying that disassembly is not appropriate.
Now I would be grateful if you could post a solution for me.

Thank You!

Ask HP. Surely the keyboard couldn't be that bad that only after 6 months you want to change it. If you are convinced that there is a replacement better keyboard on eBay and you are happy to pay for it, then go ahead.

The keyboard is not bad at all, the main problem for me is that its not back lit.
And if there is a chance for replacing my current keyboard with, say another laptops keyboard , i would be happy to do so. But the problem for me is, my default keyboard has only one connector but i have read somewhere saying that the keyboards with back lit lights has two connectors and extra one for the back lit lights and "IF" the motherboard is compatible it can support both of the connectors.

I just want to know if i can find an keyboard with backlit online which is compatible with my laptop, but searching has left me stranded, until i confirm that my motherboard support the new keyboard i cannot order it.
Any pointers?

It would have to be a keyboard from the same make and model laptop. If there was not a backlit keyboard made for your model then you are out of luck.

But yes, that guys laptop was an HP and it did not come with an backlit keyboard, but an new laptop in HP was actually can be installed for that guys laptop,
So, is was expecting an solution like that.
If another HP laptop was having the same connectors and same layout i can fix it in my laptop.
Maybe none is available yet, have to do more searching then.

Hardly any keyboards are exactly the same. Ask HP. My guess is that you are out of luck.
