I have a 2GB card in my canon camera - I took 360 photos, downloaded to computer but only 160 are visible the rest show JPEG format and size but wont open. Is that too many photos on the card . The message says can't open that format.
Microsoft Office Picture Manager is what is on my computer. I haven't had this problem before. I tried using Windows Photo viewer and it says it can't open this photo because it either doesn't support this type of file or I don't have the latest photo viewer updates.

Try a free photo editor like Gimp or something and see if that helps.
Also look at the size of the files, if they are small for some reason the copy may not have gone properly. Like if you see 1k size files, that is not right.
Thank you all so much for your advice sadly nothing worked. I tried GIMP it didn't work.
All the photos are about the same size almost the same as the ones that are able to be seen.
Another friend suggested ZAR which did recover 2 photos but none of the photos taken of the Grand Canyon or Monument Valley appeared. Guess it just means I will have to make the trip again.
Can you try downloading them off the card again? Do they show up on the camera?
No the photos don't show up anywhere but if you click on the properties it shows a JPEG file and they are about the same size as the ones that are viewable. I give up I thank each of you for your input and help it is appreciated.
