HI Guys

I am new to this forum & i'll like to apologies if i have posted in the wrong area.

RE: SONY VAIO OVER HEATING
MODEL: VPCEB3L9E

I have owned this laptop for around 4 and a half years now. Quite recently my laptop has not been behaving correctly.

Problem:

When powering on the laptop the Vaio display went all fuzzy and it appeared normal after a few seconds and yesterday whilst using the laptop the screen went all black for about 4 seconds and later went back to normal however on the bottom right corner a message appeared witch stated that the display driver stopped working.

In the 4 years of ownership it has never been opened up. I now seem to think it could be that the cooling paste has dried up and therefore a fresh new cooling paste would need to be applied.

I would be forever grateful if anyone could offer help & a step by step guide on how to rectify the problem i'm currently facing

Thanks

Adam

Thank You for your reply

I agree this could help however i'm really looking for a long term solution. You are right in suggesting to remove the CPU and re attach.

Would also appreciate if other members of the toms hardware community could kindly offer their views/thoughts and recommendation in regards to what make/brand of thermo paste to use on the graphics card and CPU also what tools are required to tackle this job.

If possible, does anyone have a step by step guide on how to do this. It would really help if there was a step by step guide video :)

Thanks

Adam

Thanks Anonymous for your reply

I had decided to use Arctic MX-4 thermal paste as there was positive reviews in regards to this product.

When i carried out a dis-assembly of the laptop and had removed the fan, i noticed that the fan assembly (complete unit) had some dust which ive cleaned with compressed air can. However i had noticed that there was a CPU but could not seem to trace where the GPU was.

Any ideas guys?
