So the laptop is a Lenovo Z510 i7 4702MQ, 4GB DDR3 1600MHz, 2GB GT 740M, 1TB, 15.6" Screen laptop. So, I know that most mobile memory is SODIMM but apart from that I heard that there is something called SDRAM? Can I just use normal DRAM when upgrading the RAM of my laptop? Thanks in advance.

Sodimm is the size. All pc ram is sdram, it's a further breakdown of the type of ram. The same goes for dram. We just simplify things and just call it ram.

It's really simple when looking for ram to buy. You look for laptop (or sodimm) ddr3 and all of it will be compatible. You just need to find the other specs you want, like speed.
