Alright, so here is the situation. I upgraded my motherboard and CPU yesterday from an AMD asrock 970 extreme3 & FX-4100 to an Intel asrock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer & Pentium G3258. Before the hardware swap, I upgraded to Windows 8, because I was told that I could switch out my motherboard without having to reinstall the OS if I was on Windows 8. However, after the swap, I powered up my rig, and Windows would not boot! It kept saying it ran into a problem and had to restart, and now and then it would say it was trying to repair itself, which never worked. So, after a bit, I decided to install my old copy of Windows 7 OEM, which I was originally using, and which I am running on right now. I have 2 drives, a 90gb SSD for the OS, and a 1TB HDD for everything else. I still have all my stuff on the 1TB HDD, but the SSD was of course wiped in the install.
I previously made a backup of my system on an external hard drive using seagate discwizard, and I tried to use to the backup to restore Microsoft Office, which is the main thing I am worried about missing. However, after it restored and restarted, I couldn't boot to Windows, as it was giving me some error message about a hardware change. I am thinking this means that the restore would only work if I still had that old AMD setup, instead of my new Intel one. So, I was forced to install Windows 7 yet again, and that is where I am at now. I know my time is limited, as I cannot reactivate my OEM license. Basically, all I want to do is get Microsoft Office back, then I will just upgrade to Windows 8 again.
Ideas? Help? Suggestions? Thanks in advance!
