I'm looking for a sub $650 laptop to accompany my desktop for student/classroom use, and nothing more. I have looked around a bit but all I can find regarding laptop reviews are many top 5s that really don't list a lot of the nitty-gritty details about the feel of a laptop or just plain don't list any negatives. I want a laptop that is affordable, feels good to type on, has decent to good battery life, and can run chrome and the office suite without problems. I don't plan to game on it, and I don't need a fancy display. The most intensive work I might do on it would be some dabbling in photoshop, but I can accept a performance hit while using that, and it would be rare at best when I use it for that purpose. I would prefer one or two USB ports on it as well, and I would also prefer a non tablet laptop, although I've been contemplating the ASUS t00ta. It seems like a good deal, but I've heard that the keyboard is a bit awkward. Some good things about it is that it comes with the office suite, which is a huge plus.

If someone can help me out or at least point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert but trying to point you in the right direction:
Your needs are pretty basic so any laptop would do the job. But branding matters! My HP lasted me through 5 years while my current Acer started being a nightmare after 5 months. I would stick with Asus, Dell, Lenovo, HP
