I have a 32" rca picture tube tv that was getting an intermittent signal like a bad connection where antenna screws into coax

have bad connection where antenna (coax cable) screws in to tv ..will rca red/white/yellow connections bypass coax cable & restore picture? can coax be replaced at tv. ?
 
Solution
If you have a set top box and you have the option of using the composite video and audio connections you should do that. It will give you a better picture than going through the TV tuner.
If you are going directly from the cable to the antenna input of the TV then you would need to add a cable box to get an av connection. You need something to tune channels.
You might be able to repair the RF connector but on some TVs it is welded directly to the tuner module which makes it tough. Depends on you comfort level. I would try to find the service manual for you TV online and see what it looks like first.
