Desktop Mic or Headset for Gaming?

Between a desktop mic and headset, which should I buy for gaming? The desktop mic has way way better mic quality, but I'm worried that it will pick up to much noise. I have headphones that I can pair with the desktop mic to have a better sound quality/mic quality combo than a headset.

Gaming headsets with mics are definitely more convenient, but if you you have a high end headphone and enjoy the quality it will probably be cheaper to get a good standalone mic. As long as you don't go cheap on the mic, I think you will be fine. I personally don't have any recommendations for mics but that's just my thoughts on the setup.

The two (cheap) desktop mics I have pick up everything in the room no matter what settings I try, I only use headset for gaming now.
