SL-258 External Speakers not Working for Windows 8

I know these are old Speakers but it worked on my Windows 7 laptop but it doesn't work on my Windows 8 pc, i tried troubleshooting it says it fixed the problem but it resulted in no sound still. Help?

1. Right Click on speaker icon and select playback devices. A new window titled soundshould open up.
2. Right click on the blank area place a checkmark on “Select Disabled Devices”and “Select Disconnected Devices”.
3. Select your speaker, right-click on it and select enableto make sure that it is enabled.
4. Select the speaker and click on “Set Default”button to set it as default device.
Also ensure that you download the latest sound card driver from the Manufacturer’s website that is compatible with Windows 8.

Ok so i added what i think is the speakers, when i play a youtube video there are green bars but im still not hearing anything. Bear in mind that the speakers work fine on my laptop.
