So, I need a new amplifier/receiver to run my speakers and subwoofer.

I've got:

2x SONY SS-RG110 running at 6 ohm.

and a 10" JBL GTB-1000 running at 4 ohm and 260 watt

Will a Sony STR-DE635 be able to run them? or do I need an effect-amplifier, like the Nad 912?

I'm not very good with amplifiers and what ohm's they should be running at, and such.

Appreciate the help I can get here :)

Since they come from a mini system pretty much any receiver will play those Sony speakers. I assume that the JBL sub is self powered so that not a factor. The NAD amp would improve the sound a bit but for those speakers it is overkill. I would get better speakers, then a better receiver before I would consider an amp.

Subwoofer is passive. 4 ohm and 260w.. Need an amplifier. Would 'STR-DE635' do the job?

Also, I'm not interested in buying new speakers, as I'm using them as a desktop solution, so they stand next to my screen. Not interested in big floor-speakers.
