Hi,

I have a problem with an Acer Aspire E1-510 laptop, running Windows 8.1, that I've had for about two months now. I've only noticed this issue today. The laptop turns off completely and immediately as soon as it is unplugged, as if there was no battery in it. The external battery light shines blue when the AC Adapter is plugged in, and power settings say it is fully charged (it's on Balanced setting). It's been plugged in all night. I'm wondering if the problem lies with the laptop recognising the battery, the battery being dead, or some other issue, and how to fix it.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Can you turn it back on after it turns off without plugging it in?

I couldn't.

But I think I've just fixed it myself. I removed the battery, pressed down on the Power button for about fifteen seconds, pressed it briefly a few more times, put the battery back, and now it works.
