Hi everybody!

I'm planning to buy a 15.6 laptop but I'm deciding if I should buy a laptop with 720p or 1080p resolution. There's a 300 bucks difference if I buy a 720p vs 1080 with the same specs (except for the resolution). I'm not really sure if it's totally worth it. I will primarily use it for university stuff.

USES:

1.Microsoft Office – Word, Powerpoint etc
2.Emailing
3.Web surfing
4.I sometimes use photoshop but only basic stuff (editing my pictures from light to dark etc)
5. I use skype

I DON’T:

1. Watch DVD using my laptop
2. Watch Youtube
3. Play video games
4. Edit videos

Thank you!

720p is a very annoying resolution for any remotely serious productivity stuff. My old laptop is 1280x800 and I would not buy anything below 1080p again - nowhere near enough screen space. Resolutions below 800p belong on screens under 7".

If you are going to use it mostly at home or other similar location, one option would be to get the 720p laptop and use some of the price difference to buy a 1080p screen you can connect to it for dual-display when you need more desktop space.

I can tell you for a fact that 1366x768 is damn annoying.

Which laptops are you considering? I have seen many laptops on HP's site where the cost to upgrade from 720p to 1080p is as low as $50. But that is not a premium IPS 1920x1080 resolution screen.
