If you tried to power it on without the battery already and you got nothing, try a different charger. After that, have a repair shop check the power plug. Maybe try running on one stick of RAM at a time, re-seating the keyboard may help.

This may be a motherboard issue, but I've also seen bad keyboards cause systems not to power on which are cheaper, although less likely to be the cause. Power plug and motherboard are far more likely to be at fault.
