Listen to a Mechanical engineering student. Quadro cards are for professional. You are not a professional but a student. you will not need of a quadro/Workstation system. any good dedicated GPU will do for CAD programs. And since you are going in civil engineering, you will not hvae to go through hard GPU intensive CAD designs. you will most likely work on autocad. so get any gaming laptop so you can play when you are done with your homeworks ! you don't even have to spend more than 700 $ on a PC. But remember to get a decent CPU since you will not be strictly gaming.

The Lenovo W500 series is a crowd favourite for Engineering students. The Quadro GPUs tend to play very nicely with many engineering applications.
