setting up good recording software for games

I want to set up a good recording "studio" for games but am having trouble doing that. I've tried bandicam and I've tried fraps, but both seem quite foreign to me and can't seem to set them up properly.

So the question is: Is there anything better you would recommend and do you have any advice on how to set it up properly?

I also seem to have problems with downright obscene file sizes, up to 400 megabytes for just 30 seconds of playback.

The other problem is that every time I activate the recorder, the framerate of the game gets matched to the recording framerate which adversely affects game performance. Any advice on that?

You don't understand, its not a framerate issue, its a settings issue, my configuration has already been proven to stream 1080p at 60fps with all modern games smoothly.
