Although lacking in IT know-how I boldly replaced my damaged laptop screen myself only to find that my wifi connection now only hooks up if I'm sitting next to my router! I first thought that maybe the battery removal had somehow reset the connection/router settings but now I'm wondering if I've trapped/damaged a cable for the antenna when I replaced the screen. Does this sound feasible or can anyone tell me if there is a more likely simple reason?

It sounds feasible. I'm no expert on laptops but I believe than the wifi antenna sometimes/normally/often(?) runs around the screen. You may well have disconnected the antenna from the WiFi card whilst replacing the screen.

Well done on replacing hte screen though, good work!
