When I play sleeping dogs or the sims 3 my pc is significantly louder and isn't ice cold like it normally is.

My pc is more than powerful enough for these games too and can can play skyrim and more on ultra without breaking a sweat.

I have i7 4790k, r9 290 and 8gb ram

Not sure about the issue with Sleeping Dogs.

However, for the Sims 3 I have read that even though it only displays 30 FPS on the screen, it forces the GPU to work as hard as possible to render as many FPS as it can. For example, your GPU might be powerful enough to render 90 FPS in the Sims 3, however, since only 30 FPS will ever get displayed the other 60 FPS is simply dropped.

Goggle for "Sims 3 FPS limiter" which should stop your GPU from working at full tilt, consuming a lot of power and generating unnecessary heat.

I'm not sure about the temp of the parts but they sound like they're working harder than normal for game which shouldn't be much strain. It's more the noise that's annoying me and that other games aren't getting the same reaction from my system
