I took it in and I told the guy hey I got warranty my fan went out and made a clunking noise and the cpu gets up to 80 degrees and the fan doesn't blow. He tells me he is going to run his software crap to see the hardware is running correctly. sure enough i come back and they said nothing was wrong and that they cleaned it. I take pictures of my temps every month and there is a huge 20c difference after the clunk of the fan. Should I call their customer service or should i just keep doing my editing stuff and gaming and if destroys the cpu take it back so they can finally fix it?

ASUS G750JW It still has accidental warranty

internet surfing is at 60c degrees and my laptop has such an awesome cooling that just doesn't make sense.

the guys asked me to replicate the clunking sound i heard. I can't replicate a fan going out so that was a loss

Solution
Just reach out to ASUS directly and see what they say. Geek Squad sucks and best buy in general is pretty bad from any sort of customer service standpoint. If the sound hasn't happened again..who knows maybe it was a strange random fluke. gaming laptops in general run pretty hot. Hell I remember my old asus ROG GV51VX which had a 260M felt like it could cook an egg if i put one next to the exhaust.

you're better off posting it here than taking it to GeekSquad.

If it's a laptop (which it is), you should probably just send it back for repairs. Take our your HDD first and then send it so you have access to your data. There's no point in trying to fix a laptop yourself anyways.

I would ask to speak with a manager. I would provide the screen shots to the manager and let them know about the problem. Best Buy has some pretty bad customer service though when it comes to these kind of things.

Is it still making that noise? You can probably remove the back plate on the laptop yourself and see the fan/heatsink of the GPU. In any case, those temps are really high.. and yeah you have a warranty but those can often be denied if they claim user damage or that you didn't do anything to prevent the damage. While its a low chance..it has happened.

Also, geek squad is pretty garbage anyway.

That will void the warranty. Talk to a manager first.

Opening up an easily accessible back panel on a laptop.. one who you can probably open to upgrade/change components such as the HDD yourself doesn't void the warranty. I'm not looking up his model to specifically figure out which one it is...but anyways.....

that should give you a good idea...

I done that to switch my SSD the problem is nothing else is accessible. If I just game and show them the receipt that said nothing was wrong, what will happen after wards if it breaks? Get a replacement? maybe in store credit?

My friends are telling me to just do my usual thing and just wait for it to go. I got my receipt from their "service" that gave the green light?
what scenario may come out of this?

How are we supposed to know what a particular warranty claim rep is going to feel like or say to you in the event something happens? Who knows?! Again..if you're that worried about it..reach out directly to Asus. Asking a forum community on what you should do in regards to a warranty claim is pretty pointless..its ultimately your decision. You can either keep pressing the issue if you feel its truly going to cause you damage or you can even simply you know..just ask them the question, ''okay so what happens if the noise happens again and my laptop stops working'' will you still fix it under warranty, offer a replacement, in store credit, or tell me to go fly a kite?

the problem is the fan used to blow the air at even cooler temps, right now nothing is happening after the clunk i heard. again it could have been the fan going out. It was never this hot

I will take it back later tonight to tell the manager. I will ask for his name and tell him my name and make it very clear that I won't be liable for the damage to the laptop. spent 230 dollars on warranty and i still got another 1 year and 2 months left

I spoke to ASUS and they made an RMA for me, I have to pay for shipping but way better service than best buy. 230 dollars down the drain I guess that is why bestbuy is going out of business.

I'd go to Best Buy and speak with a manager and show them your correspondence with Asus and demand they refund/store credit your warranty or at least give compensation for the remainder for it. It's unacceptable that they stated there was nothing wrong with the laptop and refused to help any further while the manufacturer ended up honoring their own warranty.

Unfortunately your experience will probably vary based on the manager you get..and if that fails.. I'd hit up their facebook/twitter pages and post your experience/story as public opinion often gets results.
