$600 max. $500 would be better.


2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

15.6" would be my first choice.


3. What screen resolution do you want?

Any.


4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

A little of both. This will be used as the main word processor for a new student with only basic computer knowledge.


5. How much battery life do you need?

4 hrs. minimum


6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to
with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Not really


7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Microsoft office, E-mail, Web Browsing... among other everyday activities.


8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
500 gb.

Im thinking of lenovo or toshiba.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

would like it to last 3 years or so...


11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

Dvd reader. CD/DVD burner is a nice plus.

No particular preference, I have successfully used HP, Toshiba, Lenovo, Sony and others I'm forgetting, but I'm not a big laptop person.

Lenovo and Toshiba seem like very durable brands...

this laptop will be used for a psychology major in college so it doesn't need to be very powerful, just needs to be durable and reliable.
Something not too heavy to be carried around campus.

I would avoid toshiba laptops in general. same goes for HP and ACER
