Work laptop for my wife. Sony is $210 and the Toshiba is $330
Toshiba
Intel Core i3 370M / 2.4 GHz
4GB DDR3
500GB HD SATA
Cache L3 3MB
3 USB 2.0, 1 HDMI
64bit Win 7

Sony has been upgraded in some areas
Intel Pentium dual-core T3200(2.0GHz)
4GB DDR2
128GB SSD
Cache 1MB
4USB 2.0
64bit Win 7

It will see use with MS Office 2010 and MS Project. No gaming. Spreadsheets and flowcharts.

Error and edited above. The Sony is DDR2 not DDR3 as was originally indicated.

Solution
Toshiba is quicker, energy eficient, wider screen, full keyboard with numerics, more disk space. More recent tecnology. Higher price.
Sony has quicker, more silent and smaller disk, slowest in everything else, only see DDR2 memory for it. More then enough for the job described. It´s cheapest.

For my personal use I would choose the Toshiba... Just because my other Toshibas L500 and A200 have better specs.

The Sony.

It has more than enough power for what you need. The SSD will also be a great touch. It will use a little more power and run a little bit hotter and may require external storage if you fill up the hard drive but it is the best for the price.

Cheers!
