Hello,

I disassembled my boyfriend's laptop in order to clean the fan and change the thermal compound since it was overheating. The disassembly went alright, I had no problems and was able to clean it up and put the laptop back together easily.

Upon starting it up again though, I noticed that even though the overheating problem was solved, the sound and WiFi were gone. The WiFi button has a permanent orange color now and it only switches between "Disabled" and "Off", never "On. And when I hover my mouse pointer over the volume mixer it says "No Audio Output Device is installed.", also it doesn't seem to identify the laptop's soundcard in Device Manager.

I disassembled the laptop two more times since then to make sure I hadn't misplaced/damaged the ribbon cable and antennas, and they do seem to be alright. As a matter of fact, I don't understand why the sound was affected since the soundcard was the only thing I didn't have to remove in order to reach the fan.

Any help is MUCH appreciated, I have tried a lot of suggestions I saw in the internet but nothing seems to help me, I don't know what to do anymore :(. This laptop is a COMPAQ Presario CQ60 running on a Windows Vista 32bit.

Thanks in advance,
Ursula
