I would like a decent gaming laptop/notebook that is around $500.Any help is appreciated. Also it needs to be able to do some editing, have a camera, be wireless, have a decent amount of usb ports, upgradeability and also any suggestions for upgrading would also be lovely. (I can't upgrade the processor because Geek Squad doesn't so that stuff.

these aren't desktops. They're far from upgradeable at all. Most if not all GPUs are soldered into the MOBO and can't be replaced, very few CPU's can be switched out, but even then a change of socket type will occur in the next year or two, so that's also useless. And Changing the motherboard to even a knowledgable user is extremely difficult.
$500 barely buys you a decent laptop for general work.
What games are you aiming to play? and at what setting?
found this on ebay, refurbished but a solid starting point:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-G505s-Gaming-Laptop-PC-A...

if you're willing to go $100 over budget then its very worth it, this machine hasn't been released yet but the specs are solid for the price point: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-V3-572G-587W-15-6-Inc...

the acer laptop has good specs. next thing i would do is buy an ssd. An ssd is a worthy upgrade. a good ssd with a good amount of space for your games and good value would be the crucial mx100 256GB for 108$ ( http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX100-adapter-Internal-CT...).

what do you mean by a docking bay. Also upgrading to 8.1 Pro isn't worth it. You will not see a difference in gaming performance or in daily tasks
