Sorry if this is the wrong place, I'm new the this forum.
Yesterday while watching TV my screen suddenly shut off. I first thought I had accidentally powered it off, but the lights remained on. I then checked to see if I shut off the display with the function key but it was not that either. I connected it to my external monitor and that worked.

I've done a bit of research and so far my issues seem to be consistent with a broken inverter or perhaps faulty cable. If I shine a bright light on the screen I can see that there is content but its so dim that its more or less unusable. I've opened the laptop up, disconnected the battery and held power a few second just in case that might fix it but it didn't.

I was not able to locate the inverter on the main section of the laptop which leads me to believe that it may be located in the screen. From the laptop, there are two hinges, each with a cable. The first one is the signal cable and the second is a cable with two leads connecting to the wifi module. I know the wifi works fine [strike] so I'm unsure whether those wires are heading into the screen or coming out.[/strike] EDIT: Apparently those are antenna cables and not related to the screen.

I have no idea how to open the screen or replace the cables which I feel is likely the next step.

Any advice on how to further troubleshoot, locate the inverter/open the screen and find a replacement inverter and or screen would be appreciated.

The exact model is:
