1. What is your budget? $1250 AUD

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 15.6"

3. What screen resolution do you want? 1080p

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Portable, but I'm only going to uni really.

5. How much battery life do you need? Around 4 hours.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Only Dota 2. I'll be satisfied with stable FPS on low.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) Autodesk work, engineering stuff (I don't know what my major, electrical, entails)

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? Excluding necessary files, I'd estimate a good 300 GB is nice. Probably 500 GB to be safe. I'd like SSD + HDD. SSD for OS, and HDD for storage.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? The next 4 years.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? None.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. I'm fine with any brand.

13. What country do you live in? Australia.

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

As mentioned above, an SSD is preferable.

I've already done some looking and have these laptops as consideration right now:

1. Lenovo ThinkPad Edge e540 (http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/edge-series/e540/) ~$1,265

I'm just wondering whether I could somehow upgrade to an SSD as well? There's an option for 128GB SSD, but I'm not sure if that would be sufficient for my needs.

2. Metabox W840SN Ultrabook by Clevo (http://www.affordablelaptops.com.au/contents/en-us/d399.html) ~$1300

It's 14" but the rest of the specs seem decent.

3. ASUS X550LN (http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X550LN/) ~$1100

Doesn't have an SSD. Any chance to add one in?

4. HORIZE W650SJ HASWELL ULTRANOTE (http://www.logicalblueone.com.au/store/553-horize-w650sj-ultranote.html) ~$1400-1600

It's just the price of it, really.

5. Lenovo Y510p Laptop (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y510p/) ~$1000 USD

Doesn't sell in Australia, but is nice.
