with the 1080p screen, if you feel things arent going as well as you had hoped you can always tone down the resolution.
In terms of everyday applications and workloads, both will perform pretty much the same.
In terms of movies and games, they will perform the same provided the setting are identical ; only difference is the the 1366 x 786 model wont be able to do things at 1920 x 1080 while the 1920 x 1080 model will be able to perform tasks at full HD and at 1366 x 768.
as for whether or not this is a good gaming laptop (what is the price?);
depends on the resolution you will plan to game at.
If you plan to game at 1080p then, the cpu is fine but for the graphics i would aim for the GT 750m or gt 850m at least
the GT 740m is fine for gaming at 1366 x 768 however.
