Overheating vs. Running Hot?

Hey, I have an HP Envy dv6 with Intel i7 ivy bridge and Nvidia 650M. The laptop runs most games really well but have been having some issues with Battlefield 4. I just bought the game and framerate is really great but the cpu is overheating. After 4 or 5 minutes of playing, one of the cores often reaches around 105C on coretemp and coretemp's overheat protection kicks in. This is even with a large fan blowing along the side of the laptop and it raised a few inches for adequate airflow. I know that 115 is when damage can start occuring but I'm hesitant to fully trust the coretemp reading because the laptop itself doesn't get too hot with the fan going and framerate doesn't take slow down at all. I have had the laptop for almost two years and have blown out the vents with dust off. I would want to do a deeper clean but I think it requires quite a bit of disassembly.

Obviously I want to be able to play BF4, but are these temperatures dangerous for my laptop? Does coretemp ever misread temperatures? Are there other mechanisms which would shut down the laptop shut before temperatures get to a dangerous level?

Any more ways to help with the overheating?

Thanks a ton!!

If the laptop fan is at full speed then it may really be at that temperature. Maybe the thermal paste is worn out if it's not dust. I wouldn't worry too much about damage since the laptop will protect itself.

When it gets going the fan does crank up to full speed and I can feel it getting out a lot of hot air.

If you have a temperature gun and the air coming out of the laptop is maybe 130 fahrenheit then it might not be the thermal compound because the heatsink is very hot. Could be the cooling system isn't adequate enough and there is still the possibility that the temperature reading isn't right

Used HW monitor, and after about 3 minutes of playing already have some really high spikes. The readings are about the same as Core Temp.

I'm really not sure what that processor frequency warning is about, I have no overclocking on the computer.

I ran CPUID, but don't really know what these different readings (core speed, etc.) mean exactly.
