Hi guys,

I have a slight issue with my audio on my laptop Dell XPS L501X, it wont play any sound at all.. no matter where it comes from, youtube, media player, web page.. anything. When i try to play some music with the Windows media player i get this message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly." I tryied system restoring to an earlier stage before this issue.. it dident worked for some reason. I had the PC Check Up with "My Dell" program from the Dell website and when i scaned for hardware performace everything checked out fine.. it passed.
The other audio/video programs wont play sound either... no sound on system startup either!

Any suggestions? Please help!

Hi Dulemaliot ,
sounds like you need to install the audio drivers for your dell.
Download the A04 version of your audio driver from here
http://ftp.dell.com/Browse_For_Drivers/Laptops/XPS/XPS%2015%20%28L501X%29/

Hi Dulemaliot, like mickypheonix suggested the symptoms indicate driver issue. Did you get a chance to update the drivers? In case you still have any concern, let us know.

I think that the Audio driver is not installed, The Audio driver is missing, The Audio driver Shows the yellow exclamation mark in your audio driver in Device Manager, or the Audio driver was not compatible with your OS.
