That the DC Jack was damaged was a bad sign and potentially damaged electronic parts. The Mobo I/O may be damaged, the HDD cable may be unplugged (do you have a HDD installed??) to the BIOS may be FUBAR.
Considering this is a 8 year old laptop, and a NEW laptop at Walmart is only $249 with warrenties, it is NOT cost effective to try and 'fix' this old laptop, as the parts for laptops are expensive, this is very old and may not be available, and there is no support for 'ancient' hardware (max warranty on PC hardware is only 3 years then is no longer supported by the maker).
