Hey guys,
So I'm getting a pretty good deal for the steelseries sibera and/or 7H and was planning on getting one of them..

But I wanted to know if I should spend the extra money on getting the USB version or the simple 3.5mm version considering that I will mainly be using them on my laptop and not sure how powerful that it or that if it may hamper the headphones ability.

My laptop is an HP dv6 6c02tx (sandy bridge version).

thanks in advance

Honestly, I have asus mobo in pc without it, and asus g750 js laptop with it, cant notice a thing. And that's with turtlebeach headset and/or pioneer top end dj headphones ($300).

But in reality, I think the difference would be minimal. I would go with two facts to help out your decision. #1 do you have that extra usb port where if used for a headset wouldn't mean unplugging something else. #2 would either 3.5mm or usb help out on other devices? Like my 3.5mm I use in laptop, pc, surface pro, phone, ipod, ect. Where usb wouldl limit me to only pc or laptop. (surface pro only has one usb and its pretty much always used for mouse, keyboard, external hhd, ect.)

so for me better or not (difference is small) it is just more favorable to...

Depends, laptops like top end gaming have sound cards/amps built into 3.5mm jacks, older ones don't. The usb versions of headsets usually have sound cards built into the headset, not all though.
