Hello,

I might be posting in the wrong section.
I have some Senheiser HD 449, and I'm facing an issue while watching online videos. Whenever I touch the jack while it's plugged in the laptop,
- there's the sound of a hardware plugin
- there's no more sound from the video
- the video stops downloading
- I must refresh the page so the sound COMES BACK.

I really have no idea of what could be the issue, I mean it seemsto be hardware related, either from the headset or the laptop but why can't I be able to have sound back beside refreshing the internet page??

First try without headphones. If you have no problems, it was headphone related.
Does your computer feature seperate jacks for headphone and microphone or is it such a weird solution with a 4-pin jack like I have on my lenovo?

Well speakers are working fine so I thought it was something doing with headset (without mic BTW, only one jack for input) but I've got another pair of headsets. I tested to change headsets when the issue occured.
- plugin sound/ no more sound
- change headsets
but no changes. I must indicate also that the sound mixer, the volume control is disabled when this happens. Could it be something to do with my laptop??

No, I believe your Senheiser HD 449 has very low impedance (32Ohm) and is seen as a short circuit by your computer. I am not sure (you must check this) if your laptop has a connection that features microphone input built-in (4-pin to connect the same headphones you usually get with smartphone, integrated microphone) or if it does not. Can you check this? But globally I assume the problem is related to very low impedance of your headphones... Sorry!

Thanks for your help, but I don't have any other connecting cables beside the jack. I had these headphones for a year now, and it have been since a week that this happening.

Mmh tried the Sennheiser on my MP3, works like a charm, I moved the jack, bent it a little, and there were no issues.
I plugged some other headphones on my laptop, while watching some online streaming. The sound was functionning, then I unplugged them, no more sound from speakers...I plugged the Sennheiser, still no more sound.

[strike]I looked under "control panel", "sound", "manage audio devices" and there is "Digital audio (HDMI)" "not plugged in".[/strike]

EDIT: I have to reload the streaming page so the sound comes back...Nothing to do with what I've mentionned. Could it be some plugin within Chrome bugging the sound.?

Ok, so I had to install some drivers that missed, I have no idea how I forgot to install them, Realtek and Intel. I still have a the audio that cuts off for some reason, but I just push a little on the jack for it to come back.
No more video that stops loading and needing to be refreshed so that the sound comes back.
I don't know though what causes the sound to cut. Bad contact?

Now it seems more logical. Yes. So there is a problem with impedance of your Sennheiser as well... Give me make an model of your laptop so I can check your audio connectivity, see if an adapter can help you.

OK so the headphone output is standard... Nothing more you can do except open the thing up and see if something has moved, cracked or been disconnected around that plug. Alternatively buy yourself an external USB headphone-amp...

Already done that...Nothing seems to be broken...I'll just let things this way since it's almost fixed eventhough sounds goes out for 1-2 sec sometimes, not a big deal. Anyways, thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
