USA

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

I'm considering these laptops:
Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p
ASUS N550JK
MSI GE Series GE60

However I don't know what their battery-life is or I'm not sure if it's accurate.

I'd be using this laptop in college and would appreciate one with a nice sturdy, light design with good battery-life. I'd appreciate any help with this.

If you're going for the Y510p with SLI, you can expect battery life in the realm of 2-3 hours. The best thing is to look at professional reviews. I can tell you the GE60 has the best GPU, though. I'm also pretty sure the GE60 can make 5-6 hours on battery.

You should never trust an OEM about battery life estimations. Just look at honest, unbiased reviews.

I looked it up and it looks like it only gets 3hrs. Could you tell me why you would think it'd get 5-6 hours.

Also, I'm having trouble finding good reviews of the ASUS N550JK and Lenovo Y50 with battery life expectations. Do they just not exist?

Also, thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

Weaker how? Gaming-wise? Or will I notice worse performance in some other places?

It seems like this laptop just has much better battery-life, and I don't know how long the life of the N550JK is, but I would think it's around 3 hours which wouldn't be enough for me.

Also thanks for the suggestions so far.

I'm probably confusing it with a similar model. The Y50, as a machine, is fairly new so virtually no reviews exist. The Y510p has a good review on Notebook Check, however they use the SLI model. If you're not going dual GPU, the battery life should be a bit better.

Thanks! This is very helpful.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Acer because of the better battery life. Do you think if I took this:
http://store.acer.com/store/aceramer/en_US/pd/ThemeID.35703000/productID.282872100
one with the i7 the battery-life would take a hit? Significantly?

Also, is it even worth it to get it with the i7? Would it only benefit games or would it help performance overall?

I've done a bit more digging around and I've found this laptop Dell Inspiron 15-7537:

After their promotions it totals $1,100. It seems to me like it will perform similar to the Acer but with a much better build quality and slightly better battery-life.
It seems to have a good review:

Just wondering what your opinion on it is?

Okay. If I were to go with the N550JK and I don't really need to buy this laptop right now since it'll be for school, would you recommend waiting for the G550JK?
