I would like to record HD footage at 1920x1080 as well as larger resolutions like 6040x1080. What would be the best option on the software side for doing this? I don't want to be losing quality due to spotty software. I would be capturing this video on my PC for the most part. Finally, do I need to spend 1k and buy Adobe Premier? Thanks for any and all help you can provide!!!

Yea, I have heard the same thing. However, they have different version and levels of their software. And from what I have read on the Adobe end is that Adobe Elements 12 is total garbage. I don't wanna make the mistake of buying some bonk software. Most concerned with not losing quality. However, some extra bells and whistles never hurt and I am sure I would end up utilizing them.

Ahh well I can't help to much as I don't edit myself but it is always Adobe Premier Pro and Sony Vegas Pro that I see mentioned. Really it seems to be just the pro versions that keep showing up.
Hopefully someone who uses them will chime in for you and break down the differences.

There are big differences between the pro and consumer versions of Vegas and Premiere. Adobe Premiere Elements and Sony Movie Studio are entry level whereas Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas Pro require a bit more skill and are aimed at a more professional market.
